Ahead of the September 2023 elections into local government areas in Edo State, leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Etsako East have zoned the chairmanship position to the North Ibie zone of the council while declaring to back the aspiration of Benedicta Ebuehi.

Benedicta Ebuehi , a former chairman of Etsako local government, had indicated desire to contest for the chairmanship position and penultimate week purchased her nomination form to contest.

The party leaders and stakeholders at an enlarged meeting in Jattu had unanimously throw their weight behind Mrs Ebuehi to preside over the affairs of the council even as they promised to mobilize people of the locality to vote massively for her.

The meeting where she was endorsed was presided over by Governor Godwin Obaseki’s coordinator, Chief Sunny Adoga and other leaders of the party.

Part of the resolution reads; “The house unanimously zoned the chairmanship position to Ibie zone and Hon. Princess Benedicta Ebuehi was endorsed by the leaders. The commissioner position is to be retained in Weppa Wanno zone and Hon. Emma Akhaba was also unanimously endorsed.

“The vice chairmanship position was zoned to Okpella and we ask the leaders to nominate their candidate.”

The chairmanship hopeful had vowed to commit all her leadership experience and influence within and outside Nigeria to partner with development groups to make Etsako East an enviable local government in Edo State and Nigeria if elected.

“We must move ahead with confidence, determination, and surefootedness in our collective efforts in making Etsako East great. There can only be a reform when there is the will. I have the political will, the experience, and necessary connections with relevant development partners that will ease the burden of building an enviable council,” she said.
