Police arrest 5 suspects over killing of Plateau residents
The Police said five persons have been arrested in connection to the killing of over 30 residents in Bwai, Manga LGA of Plateau state.
Alfred Alabo, police spokesperson in the state, said the suspects were arrested on Wednesday.
Recall that gunmen had on Tuesday attacked some villages in the LGA and allegedly killed over 30 residents. Alabo said the suspects were arrested in collaboration with troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH).
He said security operatives engaged the attackers who destroyed two Hilux vans of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the process.
“Following the attacks in some villages and adjoining areas of Mangu, police personnel and troops of the OPSH led by the deputy commissioner of police, Emmanuel Ado, were mobilised to the area,” NAN quoted Alabo as saying.

“In the course of the struggle with the attackers, Cpl. Abdullahi Umar, serving with sector VIII of OPSH sustained bullet wounds and currently receiving treatment at its clinic.
Two Hilux vans belonging to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were vandalised by the attackers.”
The police spokesperson added that security personnel have been deployed to the area to maintain peace and order. It is now calm in the general area of Mangu local government while monitoring has continued,” he said.
