 FCT First Baptist Church Gwagwalada celebrates Mother s Day

The Minister in charge of First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada, Abuja, Reverend Deji Oyelami has advised Christian mothers against act that could make them lose their value as gold to their children, church of God and the country in general.

Reverend Oyelami gave the advice in Gwagwalada Abuja’ during a special service to mark this year’s Mother’s Day celebration with the theme “Mother As Gold”.

Reverend Oyelami who said the roles of mothers in the family, society and the nation cannot be overemphasized, admonished them to always dedicate qualitative time to the upbringing of their children.

He equally stressed the need for them to be steadfast in faith and prayers to enable them overcome challenges in the course of carrying out their responsibilities as mothers.

While expressing concern over the attitude of some mothers, the cleric enjoined them to always be role model in all their endeavours.

Reverend Oyelami noted that the society would be a better place if mothers give priority to the upbringing of Godly children and ensure their educational development.

Earlier, the President of Women Missionary Union, WMU, of the Church, Mrs Esther Adekola, said the day was set aside by the Nigerian Baptist Convention, NBC, to appreciate mothers and remind them of the roles in christiandom.

Mrs Adekola therefore urged mothers to be prayerful and serve God in accordance to the teachings of the holy Bible.

Some mothers and members of WMU of the Church, Mrs Naomi Adelabu, Christiana Gbemileke and Bisi Ajao expressed gratitude to God for witnessing this year’s Mother’s Day.

They used the opportunity to call on governments at all levels to be committed to programmes that would make Nigerian women self-reliant towards contributing to national development.

Highlights of the Mothers Day special service were playlet, talk show, Royal Ambassadors’ Parade, presentation of gifts and prayers for mothers.
