Sunday Dare gets NUJ FRCN’s award on best performing minister on youth development

Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN Abuja Chapel has conferred the Award of the Best Performing Minister On Youth and Sports Development on Hon. Sunday Dare since inception of the Ministry.
This is in recognition of his commitment and efforts towards programmes aimed at building the developmental capacity of youths to be self reliant and revamping the nation’s sports sector for youth empowerment.
The Award was presented to him at the National Press Centre in Abuja during the 2023 Annual Press Week and Award Presentation of NUJ, FRCN Abuja Chapel with the theme ” National Socio-economic Development : Roles Of Media Professionals.
The Minister who was represented by his Special Adviser on Sports, Mary Onyeali described youths as the bedrock of development of any nation hence the need for his interest at empowering them and making them self reliant through various programmes he initiated through his Ministry.
According to him, thousands of Nigerian youths have benefitted from his financial intervention programmes, vocational and training capacity on skills acquisition, sports development strategies among others.
While advising Nigerian youths to always engage in positive ventures and shun crimes, Hon Sunday Dare reiterated his committment towards projects that would improve their well being and make them contribute to national development.
He therefore stressed the need for all stakeholders to be committed to programmes that would take the youths off the street and make them responsible citizens of Nigeria.
The Minister also advised parents to always ensure educational development of their children and give quality time to their upbringing to reduce the rate of youth involvement in crimes in the society.
Earlier, the Chairperson, NUJ, FRCN Abuja Chapel, Comrade Shakirat Alabi commended the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Sunday Dare for the achievements recorded so far in the Ministry and expressed the hope that the Award would further encourage him to do more even after leaving the office.
Highlights of the Press Week and Award Presentation were paper presentation by some Renowned Media Scholars and conferments of Awards on other notable Nigerians for their contributions to the progress and development of the country and upliftment of humanity.
