Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu is a Nigerian politician who represented the Imo East constituency in Imo State in the 8th Assembly Senate of Nigeria.
He declared to run for governor in the 2019 elections but lost to Chukwuemeka Ihedioha in the party primaries.
In 2023, he also contested and won as the PDP Governorship candidate. He is a member of the People’s Democratic Party.
Senator Anyanwu was born on June 18, 1965 into the family of Late Chief Sab Anyanwu of Umuduru Anyanwu, Obodo Amaimo, in Ikeduru, Imo State.
Sen.Anyanwu is a Christian of the Catholic church denomination. He is married to delectable Florence Olachi Anyanwu (nee) Madumere and they are blessed with three lovely children Jennifer, Samuel and Trust.
Sen.Anyanwu started his elementary education at School Road Primary School, Aba, obtaining his First School Leaving Certificate in 1977.
He then proceeded to Amaimo High School where he got his West Africa School Certificate in 1982 and thereafter went to the University of Port Harcourt where he completed a Bachelors degree in Political Science in 2001.
Sen.Anyanwu was the Secretary Imo State Youth Organization (IYO) in 1983 as well as a political leader in the Democratic Party of Nigeria (DPN) and later political leader in the UNCP.
In 2003, he was the Transition Committee Chairman of Ikeduru Local Government Council, and then Secretary of the Imo State chapter of ALGON from 2003 to 2004.
In 2007, Sen.Anyanwu contested for the representation of his constituency at the State House of Assembly and was elected successfully on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
He was successfully re-elected in 2011 for a second tenure in the State House of Assembly.
Having been buoyed by his series of political scores, Sen.Anyanwu popularly known as Sam Daddy contested in the 2015 elections to represent Imo East Senatorial District at the National Assembly.
He was declared winner of the polls on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
In 2023, Sen. Anyanwu also contested and won as the PDP Governorship candidate.
Sen. Anyanwu has recieved numerous recognitions and awards including traditional titles including the Enyioha 1 of Iho in Ikeduru local government and the Ugodioramma 1 of Agbaja Nwangele Local Government of Imo State.
He is also a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary International as well as a Word Peace Ambassador of the International Association of World Peace Advocates.
