FCT: JSS Gwagwalada holds annual sports festival

Junior Secondary School, JSS, Gwagwalada, Abuja has organised its Annual Inter – House Sports Festival.
On the occasion in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory Commissioner, Public Complaint Commission, Mr Ezekiel Dalhatu called for more programmes that would encourage sporting activities among students of secondary schools in the country.
Mr Dalhatu, who described sports as one of the veritable tools for national development advised students to develop keen interest in sports and be committed to their studies.
In a remark, the Chairman of Toto Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, Mr Abdullahi Tasha stressed the need for Governent at all levels to Invest more in sports to enhance the growth of the sector.

Mr Abdullahi Tasha also called for more public private sector collaboration towards making the sports industry a vibrant income earner for the country.
According to him, necessary modalities are being put in place in Toto Local Government in the area of sports development and youth empowerment.
On his part, a Traditional Ruler and Agabe of Gwargwarda in Kuje Area Councll of the FCT, Imam Oseni advised students to always be good ambassadors of their families and be committed to their studies.
The Traditional Ruler equally enjoined parents to always give priority to the educational development of their children.
Earlier, the Principal of the School, Mrs Florence Okonkwo said the annual Inter house sports festival was part of the school’s contributions to sports development in the FCT.
Okonkwo stated that the school had put in place various educational programmes towards improving teaching and learning in the School.
She therefore solicited the support of parents and other stakeholders towards enhancing the growth of education in the School.
At the end of the Interhouse Sports Festival, Pink House emerged the overall winner, Yellow House came Second while Blue House emerged third.
Highlights of the event were presentation of gifts and certificates to the participants and invited schools.
