Agom Jarigbe is a politician, currently a member of the Senate in Nigeria’s 9th National Assembly representing Cross River North and was a member of the House of Representatives in the 8th and 9th National Assembly representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency.
Agom Jarigbe was elected into the Green Chamber in 2015 and has served for his second term in office.
In 2020 he contested and won the Cross River North Senatorial bye election. However, it was given to another candidate.
In 2021, the Supreme Court had judgement in his favour and upheld him as the senator-elect for Cross River North.
FAMILY
Hon. Agom Jarigbe Jarigbe was born on December 9th, 1972. He hails from Ogoja Town in Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria.
Hon. Agom got married to Fifi Jari on September 9th, 2006. They have four children – two boys and two girls.
EDUCATION
Hon. Agom attended the School of Basic Studies in Port Harcourt, Rivers State where he passed the West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) in 1990.
In 2004, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Calabar, Cross River State.
CAREER
Hon. Agom worked as the Managing Director of Laja Enterprises Limited. As a politician, he served as a member of the executive committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State.
He was also appointed the Chairman, Sure-P in Cross River State.
In 2015, Hon. Agom was elected under the platform of the PDP to represent Ogoji/Yala Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives.
His legislative interest include the oil & gas sector, and public accounts. He is a member of the tertiary education and services committee.
The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Sen. Jarigbe Agom has been declared winner of the 2023 Saturday’s senatorial elections in northern Cross River State.
He was declared winner by the returning officer, Dr. Emmanuel Emanghe after polling 76,145 votes to beat his closest rival and incumbent Governor, Sen. Benedict Ayade of the All Progressives Congress who scored 56,595 votes.
