The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP)’s governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Abdullahi Maidoya would create major upset by displacing the incumbent Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule in 2023.
A fulani leader and Chairman of Maliya Cattle Market, Malam Saleh Manga, stated this in Karu local government area of the state on Monday.
His position is came few days after a national body of major Fulani socio-cultural group, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, endorsed the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sule ahead of the 2023.
Kautal Hore’s national president, Alh. Abdullahi Bello Bodejo had told newsmen in Lafia, that Gov Sule had given priority to security and created an enabling environment for the Fulani people and farmers in the last three years of his administration.
“So, all Fulani people in Nigeria are for APC and will campaign tirelessly to ensure the victory of their candidates in 2023,” he said.
However, Manga, a key Fulani leader in the state said the position of Kautal Hore’s leadership did not represent that of majority of fulanis in the state.
He said the NNPP’s candidate is more acceptable among the Fulani folks and would defeat Gov Sule by a wide margin.
He noted Maidoya who is also a trader, enjoys the support of his peers across various markets in the state, including cattle dealers.
Manga said Maidoya is a grassroots person who always identified with the poor and the downtrodden, adding that that segment of the society would ensure he emerged during the forthcoming poll.
He said himself and other Fulani leaders would moblise their folks to ensure that Maidoya wins by a landslide.
