Sammie Okposo (30 May 1971 – 25 November 2022) was an international Nigerian gospel artist.


He was also a music producer, psalmist, and CEO of Zamar Entertainment. He released his first album Addicted in 2004.


He has collaborated with many other artists in the gospel and soul music fields, he collaborated with popular gospel singer Marvellous Odiete on “Follow You”, has performed regularly in Africa, Europe, and North America, and curates a series of concerts called SOPP (Sammie Okposo Praise Party).


His most recent album, The Statement (2018), was produced by the Grammy-winning Kevin Bond.




Sammie Okposo was born into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Adefarasan in Delta State.


He is the son of the famous Pastor Paul Adefarasan, the metropolitan Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Churches Worldwide.

Sammie is married to Ozioma Okposo, and they have a daughter together, Alula Okposo.

Sammie Okposo offered a public apology to his wife, Ozioma, via his Instagram page on 24 January 2022 for his infidelity.


The apology came a day after a lady, known only as African Doll, accused him of impregnating her and abandoning her.


The gospel musician told his fans that he would be taking a step back from his ministry to focus on restoration and seek forgiveness.


He initially deleted his social media handles, but restored them a few days later.


He died after slumping on Friday, November 25, 2022.

Sammie started as a movie soundtrack producer in 1992 before delving fully into music production.


In 2000, Sammie hit the industry with his single, “Welu-Welu” which spread across like wildfire. It got worldwide recognition and won numerous awards.


Sammie released his debut album, “Addicted”, in 2004. This further propelled him in the industry. He then collaborated with famous gospel singer Marvellous Odiete to make another hit, “Follow You”


In 2018, he dropped another album, The Statement, produced by the Grammy-winning Kevin Bond.


All through his career, Sammie has had the opportunity to work with other top music artists across the world.


He is also the brain behind the SOPP (Sammie Okposo Praise Party), where he, alongside other gospel artists, storm the stage to worship and sing praises.


Some top artist which Sammie has had the privilege to work with includes Donnie Mcclurkin, Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Israel Houghton, Deitrick Haddon, Jonathan Nelson, Micah Stampley, Maxi Priest, Shaggy, Missy Elliot, Benjamin Dube, Judith Sephuma, Sonnie Badu, Uche Double-Double, Lionel Peterson, Angelique Kidjo, Koffi Olomide, Awilo Logomba, John Legend, Kirk Franklin, Don Moen, Jessy Dickson, Ron Kenoly, Cece Winans and Nicole Mullen amongst others.


Sammie was also a performer at the Martin Luther King Day celebration and July 4th Independence Day Celebration.


He was a Glo Ambassador for ten years and is now a United Nations Peace Ambassador.



Sammie Okposo’s net worth is estimated at Net Worth US$1.5 million. He is reportedly one of the wealthiest gospel artists in Nigeria.
