 Nig 62 FG urged to employ more community health workers

 

The National President of Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria, Comrade Kabir Yahaya Ahmed has called on the Federal Government to employ more community health workers in the country.

Comrade Ahmed made the call in his message to mark Nigeria’s 62nd Independence Anniversary.

He said the call became necessary to further ensure effective Primary Healthcare Delivery in rural areas.

According to him, for the nation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs in the area of health, adequate attention must be given to manpower and necessary facilities in the healthcare centres at the grassroots.

He noted that this would go a long way in combating child and maternal mortality as well as improving the well being of rural dwellers.

Comrade Ahmed explained that the leadership of the Association since inception of office has given priority to capacity training and welfare of its members to compliment the efforts of the present administration in boosting healthcare delivery nationwide.

The National President also stressed the need for increase welfare, accommodation and salary package for community health workers to further encourage them during posting to rural communities.

He therefore advised community health workers to be committed to their duties and shun act detrimental to the objectives of the profession pointing out that modalities had been put in place to check quackery among practitioners.

While felicitating with President Muhammadu Buhari and all Nigerians as well as entire members of the Association on this year’s Independence Anniversary, Comrade Ahmed enjoined all citizens to be committed to the continuous corporate existence of the country.

He equally urged to effectively participate in the 2023 General Election towards ensuring the emergence of credible leaders that would take Nigeria to greater heights

Comrade Ahmed added that the success and peaceful conduct of next year’s elections required the support of Nigerians hence the need for all politicians and stakeholders to play by the rules and embrace the spirit of sportsmanship before, during and after the elections.
