Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, the candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, on Saturday visited Emir of Kano, His Royal Majesty, Aminu Bayero.
Obi, who shared the development on his Twitter page, said they discussed several issues with the Emir, ranging from the fire incident in the Kano market, recent flooding in the North and others.
PlatinumPost reports that Obi, who has been enjoying huge followership on his presidential ambition, particularly from the youths and social media, is said to be lacking major support base in the northern part of the country compared to the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, Peoples Democracy Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and that of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Recall that a nationwide opinion polls conducted in early September predicted that Obi would likely emerge as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.
It, however, showed a substantially close race between Obi, Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar, adding that the September 2022 polls were inconclusive in terms of establishing a clear winner, as the undecided voters are large enough to turn the tables.
