No fewer than five Persons were feared killed on Sunday evening following a ghastly Motor accident around Okpanam community along the expressway before Asaba Delta State.
Reports said that the driver of the vehicle, a Toyota Corolla with Registration number AA 357 ASB conveying passengers to Onitsha in Anambra State when he allegedly lost control within the recently constructed drainage water system to ram into the deep holes that left the five Persons feared killed.
DSP Edafe Bright, Police Public Relations Officer in Delta State, who confirmed the incident said that eyewitness said that the driver of the vehicle lost control of the car while heading towards Onitsha in Anambra State, leaving the five persons feared dead on the spot of the accident.
Sources said that the driver of the vehicle mistakenly drove into the deep holes where the water drainage system was recently constructed through joint efforts by the Delta State Government and Federal Government, a situation that attracted several residents of Okpanam community to catch a glimpse of the fatal accident.
Residents who were seen in tears at the scene of the accident, said that two ladies and three men were involved in the accident while the driver narrowly escaped death and was rushed to the Federal Medical Center ( FMC, Asaba) for treatment.
The corpses of the victims were seen taken away by FRSC officials who refused to speak with journalists when they were asked for comments.
Recall that the same spot witnessed an accident last weekend when a lorry tanker carrying unknown substance also ran into the deep hole.
