The Centre for Management Development, CMD, has reiterated its commitment to standards of management and even development towards ensuring Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs in the country.
The Director General of the Centre, Mr Bitrus Chinoko stated this during the opening ceremony of a Management Trainer’s Workshop organised by CMD in Abuja.
The Director General who was represented by the Director, Communication in CMD, Dorothy Esiri stressed the need for the public and private Organizations to improve their human capacity needs for enhanced national economic development.
Mr Chinoko stated that with the new CMD Bill recently signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Centre would now be empowered to sanction any quacks in the business of management training.
According to him, the new law will also strengthen CMD towards ensuring that only skilled trainers and consultant are involve in training of management for Ministries, Department and Agencies, MDAs and in the private Organizations.
He explained that this would go a long way in making them self sustaining and enable them to contribute to national economic development.
In a remark, a Public Relations Officer, Iheanyi Sunday advised the participants to come up with strategies that would further compliment the efforts of CMD towards realizing its mandate.
While commending CMD for contributing to management development in both public and private Organizations for about 50 years now, the Public Relations Officer emphasized the need for training management Institutions and consultancy to always support CMD towards sanitizing the sector.
Some of the participants expressed optimism that the workshop would further boost their productivity towards contributing effectively to management training.
They called for more funding of CMD towards realizing its objectives on management training and development.
