The Head of Service Compact (SERVICOM) Unit of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Mrs Ebere Nwobu, has empowered 50 widows as parts of activities to mark her 50 years birthday celebration.

The empowerment of the first batch of the beneficiaries-10 widows, which took place at Our Lady, Queen of Nigeria Pro-Cathedral, Area 3, Garki, Abuja, on 3rd September, attracted the leadership and members of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) in the church, among others.

Speaking at the event, the visibly elated Nwobu, commended friends and colleagues whose financial contributions ensured the beneficiaries smiled home with money.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank all those that have contributed towards this empowerment because if it is me alone, I will not be able to do it.

” Some of my friends, colleagues in the office and our mummies here contributed the money, ” she said.

Nwobu expressed thanks to God for a purposeful life, adding that the gesture was part of the fulfilment of her desires to empower widows and contribute to the development of the society.

While calling on Nigerians to inculcate the culture of generosity to usher in the desired prosperity, Nwobu challenged the beneficiaries to put the money into good use, especially by using it to boost their business activities.

“This is not much but a little drop like this has the capacity to multiply,” she said.

The leadership of the CWO in the cathedral led by its president, Dr. Victoria-Mary Pillah, lavished praise on Nwobu for her unwavering passion in helping others, even as the beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the financial intervention.

PlatinumPost reports that the empowerment of the second batch of the beneficiaries, 40 widows, will take place on 18 September in Ogulogu Olo, Ezeagu Local Government of Enugu State while the birthday celebration will be climaxed with a thanksgiving Mass at the Queen of Nigeria, Pro-Cathederal, Area 3, Garki, Abuja, on the 19th of September, 2022.

Friends, colleagues, family members and well wishers are expected at the Mass which will commence by 12 noon.
