250 Why I won t attend Peter Obi s Atlanta townhall meeting Farooq Kperogi

Renowned newspaper columnist and United States based Professor of Journalism and Emerging Media at Kennesaw State University, Farooq Kperogi, says he would not attend the town hall meeting organised for Peter Obi in Atlanta.

The outspoken public affairs analyst, who hinged his decision on the cost attached to the event, said since the presidential candidate of Labour Party hardly spends money unnecessarily, he (Kperogi) would not also expend his hard-earned resources on such programme.

“People have asked if I’ll attend Peter Obi’s townhall meeting with diasporan Nigerians in Atlanta tonight. No, I won’t because it costs at least $250,” Kperogi said in a post on his official Facebook page late on Friday.

“I won’t pay shishi to listen to a man who doesn’t give shishi. The no-shishi policy shouldn’t be one-way; it should be reciprocal,” he added.

PlatinumPost gathered that the registration fee for the Atlanta townhall event was pegged at $250 for general participation, $1,000 for VIP and $5,000 and above for executive.

Recall that the Labour Party presidential candidate had earlier met with Nigerians in Washington D.C, where he shared his vision of transforming Nigeria through prudent management of the nation’s economy with them.
