Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, on Friday held a closed-door meeting with Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State.
The meeting, it was gathered, was to ensure a possible political realignment ahead of the 2023 general elections.
PlatinumPost reports that both Dogara and Lawal, who are chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), have publicly lashed out at their party and its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu over the choice of Muslim-Muslim ticket.
The two politicians from the North-East geo-political zone had during a Northern Christian summit in Abuja on Friday, kicked against the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket, with Lawal urging Nigerians to reject Tinubu in the 2023 polls.
Though the details of the meeting of the duo with Governor Ortom- a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and fierce critic of APC and President Muhammadu Buhari, was not disclose at the time of filing this report, Dogara confirmed the meeting in a terse post on his social media page.
He said : “Earlier today, together with my brother Engineer Babachir David Lawal, we visited Benue state Governor His Excellency Dr. Samuel Ortom.”
Recall that many Northern Christians have expressed anger over Tinubu’s decision to pick his fellow Muslim/former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, as running mate .
