Rights activist and convener of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju, has expressed delight over the role played by Nigerian music star, Davido, in the just concluded Osun State governorship election.
PlatinumPost reports that Davido is a nephew to Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the election.
Adeleke, a former Senator, who narrowly lost the gubernatorial election to incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola in a rerun poll in 2018, has scored the highest votes in the Saturday election, winning 17 local government areas, while the governor (the All Progressives Congress – candidate) managed to secure victory in 13 other local governments.
Davido had campaigned vigorously for Adeleke, telling Osun people the need to vote for the PDP candidate and defend their votes with all available legitimate tools.
Reacting to the outcome of the election on Sunday morning, Adeyanju, said Davido deserves commendation for mobilising support for Adeleke with all force.
Adeyanju also lavished praise on former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State , Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State and others, for being on ground to support Adeleke.
He said : “May we always have folks like DAVIDO in our corner at the time of need. Big shout out to Saraki, Obaseki, Douye Diri and other PDP stakeholders who didn’t sleep all night. My criticism of PDP continues later today,”
