President Muhammadu Buhari has sworn in Justice Kayode Ariwoola as the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria following Muhammad Tanko’s resignation on Monday morning.

Mr Ariwoola, born on August 22, 1958, is an indigene of Oyo state. In 1992, he was appointed Judge of the Oyo State High Court and later a Court of Appeal Justice in 2005.

The acting CJN gradually made his way up the legal rung when he got appointed as Justice of the Supreme Court in 2011.

He would now be overseeing the affairs of the apex Court in an acting capacity after Mr Tanko’s abrupt resignation amid allegations of misconduct and misappropriation of funds.
