According to him, there had been no evidence of any new or unusual transmission of the virus nor changes in its clinical manifestation documented in Nigeria, as compared to other countries.

He explained, “No death had been recorded from COVID-19 in the last five weeks.”

Dr Faisal Shuaib, the Director-General of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), explained that 21,236,404 Nigerians had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, representing only 19 percent of the targeted population.

He spoke through Dr Garba Bulama, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics of the agency, saying that the data showed that the country was still far away from achieving 70 percent of the population set for September.
