Former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has arrived at the Kano residence of Ibrahim Shekarau, to finalise the agreement of the Senator’s planned defection to New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
Shekarau had been expected to officially announce his defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday but the plan was shelved for an undisclosed reason.
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State had visited Shekarau Friday night over the alleged defection plan after which both of them were summoned to Abuja.
But on Sunday, Kwankwaso arrived at the Mudunbawa Kano home of Shekarau, alongside other bigwigs of NNPP to conclude on the defection plan said to be scheduled for official announcement on Monday.
Sources in Shekarau’s camp told Daily Trust that the defection is almost a done deal as all the associates of the former governor in all the 44 local government have agreed to move to the NNPP.
