Nine members of People Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano State House of Assembly have dumped their party for New Nigeria People Party (NNP). .
The spokesperson of the Assembly Uba Abdullahi announced this in a statement issued to journalists on Friday.
He said the affected members have sent a letter to the Speaker, notifying the House of their defection.
According to him, some of the reasons given by the members bordered on leadership tussle in the PDP both at state and national levels.
The affected members are; Isyaku Ali Danja (Gezawa Constituency), Umar Musa Gama (Nassarawa Constituency), Aminu Sa’adu Ungogo (Ungogo Constituency), Lawan Hussain Chediyar ‘Yan Gurasa (Dala Constituency) and Tukur Muhammad (Fagge Constituency).
Others are; Mu’azzam El-Yakub (Dawakin Kudu Constituency), Garba Shehu Fammar (Kibiya Constituency), Abubakar Uba Galadima (Bebeji Constituency) and Mudassir Ibrahim Zawaciki (Kumbotso Constituency).
On April 29, the House announced the defection of member representing Kano Municipal Salisu Maje Ahmed Gwangwazo from PDP to All Progressive Congress APC due to internal crisis in the party.
PlatinumPost reports that former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, had recently dumped PDP in the state and joined the NNPP, where he has since declared his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election under the party’s platform.
