I m now living my destiny as a king says ex militant leader

The Amanyanabo of Okochiri Kingdom and former Niger Delta freedom fighter, Ateke Tom, says he is now savouring his kingship which was destined by God.

In a post on his Facebook page titled ‘FATE, DESTINY, SEASONS AND TIME’, on Thursday, Ateke who was the former leader of the Niger Delta Vigilante, an ethnic Ijaw militant group Niger Delta region, called for unity of various groups in the country.

He said : “I’m living my destiny and purpose on earth as it was fated by God who knows the end before the beginning and fashioned it in ways beet pleasing to him before the birth of time beyong any human dream, vision, strength and aspirations.

” All that I am and have become today, was predestined and made posible by God alone who have never failed my absolute dependency on him from time immemorial.

“Kings are crowned by God’s divine orchestration and not the strength or wisdom of any man.

” We’re stronger together.”

PlatinumPost reports that Ateke is the first Amanyanabo of Okochiri Kingdom, In August 2007, following days of gun fights between various militia groups and security forces in Port Harcourt, Ateke Tom wrote to the Governor of Rivers State Celestine Omehia, requesting amnesty in response to an offer of clemency and rehabilitation the government had offered to militia who surrendered.

On 1 October 2009, the 49th anniversary of Nigerian independence and three days before the closing of a government amnesty program, Ateke willingly surrendered to President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua at the Government House, Abuja.

The presidential jet was sent to fly Ateke to Abuja, and the President stated, “Today, Chief Tom Ateke you have given me my 49th independence anniversary gift and I cherish it so much.” Also present at the surrender were then Vice President Goodluck Jonathan, then Minister of Defense General Godwin Abbe, among others.

On 25 November 2017, Ateke Tom was crowned as the first Amanyanabo of Okochiri. The coronation was attended by Governor Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers State.
