Contrary to claim by the factional chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in Kano, Haruna Danzago that President Muhammadu Buhari congratulated him as the duly elected chairman of the party in the state, the presidency has debunked the claim.
A terse statement signed by Presidential Spokesman Garba Shehu obtained by PlatinumPost, the Presidency denied endorsing any faction of the APC in the state.
Mr Danzago had granted an interview to BBC Hausa claiming that he met President Buhari last night, hinting that the Buhari congratulated him having emerged the chairman of the APC in Kano.
The statement read: “The Presidency wishes to counter a public statement by one of the factions of the All Progressives Congress in Kano State, that they have received the endorsement of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“This is blatantly untrue. This cannot happen when matters are awaiting adjudication by the courts.
“To be clear on this one, President Buhari has not endorsed any faction.
“His support is for the All Progressives Congress as a Party, united and strong, and not of any faction.” Shehu clarifies.
