A Kano-based businessman, Ismail Sani, has taken the Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KCPC) and its managing director, Brig-Gen Idris Bello Danbazau (rtd), to a Kano High Court over alleged demand of N5 million bribe.
The plaintiff alleged that the council confiscated groundnut oil belonging to him and that the KCPC chairman asked him to pay N5m to have his seized items back.
He, therefore, asked the court to direct mobile telecommunications service provider, MTN, to produce a voice clip of their conversation where the demand was made and for NAFDAC to release the documents clearing the status of the confiscated goods and present all before the court.
The presiding Judge, Nasiru Saminu, granted the request and ordered both MTN and NAFDAC to grant the request made by the plaintiff before the court.
However, the defendant, through his advocate, Barr M. H. Waziri, dismissed the allegations levied against the council and its boss expressing optimism that justice will prevail.
The matter has been adjourned to January 24, 2022.
