Former Senator Shehu Sani has described the Nigerian government’s blockade of telecom services as ineffective.
The lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate who said this via his Twitter handle Tuesday lamented that bandits are still carrying out attacks despite the blockade.
Shehu pointed that Nigeria’s present leaders “have run out of ideas”.
“The suspension of telecom services has not prevented the massacre of 18 worshippers in a mosque in Niger state by terrorists.Same with the 40 killed in Sokoto last week. Those who should provide leadership have run out of ideas.” He tweeted.
PlatinumPost reports that killings in the northern region of Nigeria have not ceased despite stringent measures employed by authorities to tame the activities of terrorists.
Last month, the governments of the northwestern states of Sokoto, Katsina, Zamfara, and Kaduna, shutdown telecommunication services, banned weekly markets, and restricted the sale of fuel, among other measures to end terrorism and banditry in the region.
