A former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Pastor Reno Omokri, has stressed that the threat by the Nigerian Government to declare a state of emergency in Anambra State might be “the spark that ignites what he can’t put out”.
PlatinumPost reports that the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami had threatened to declare a state of emergency in Anambra State, following the crisis in the zone.
“When our national security is attacked, and the sanctity of our constitutionally-guaranteed democracy is threatened, no possibility is ruled out,” Malami had said after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Wednesday.
Malami stated that the Federal Government had resolved that the Anambra election 2021 will take place, adding that it will ensure the provision of security for the exercise.
According to Omokri, Malami’s planned decision might be “the spark that ignites what he can’t put out”.
“Abubakar Malami’s threat to declare a state of emergency in Anambra may very well be the spark that ignites what he can’t put out. How can you leave Borno, Yobe, Kaduna, Zamfara and Niger (where Boko Haram controls 500 communities) and declare emergency in Anambra?”
Omokri wrote via his known Twitter handle.
The Anambra State election is set for 6 November.
