The decision of Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday appears to have taken many Nigerians by surprise.
The Osun State-born politician, who had before now pride himself as fierce critic of APC and President Muhammadu Buhari, stormed Aso Rock on Thursday ‘waving’ the APC flag.
Buhari, who he once tormented through his various social media posts, welcomed him to the ruling party at a brief event in Aso Rock.
Some APC governors witnessed the return of Fani-Kayode who left APC in 2014, citing irreconcilable differences.
After leaving the ruling party, Fani-Kayode became very critical of APC and the Buhari administration.
Two years ago when there were reports that he had returned to APC, Fani-Kayode said he would rather die than do so.
He also vowed to remain life critic of the party, saying he would “rather die than join a filthy, rat-infested party like the Almajiri Peoples Congress”.
In another post on his verified Twitter’s handle, he said :“I am committed to opposing the APC and those that are in their ranks for the rest of my natural life and I will never join them no matter what!”
