The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Committee/Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee, John Udoedehe, appears to be having the upper hand in the battle for the control of the party structure in Akwa Ibom State.
PlatinumPost gathered that the political camp of the Niger Delta Affairs Minister, Godswill Akpabio, which is at dagger-drawn with Udoedehe over the control of the party in the oil rich state, had recently condemned the conduct of the APC ward congress in the state.
It was alleged that the APC national secretary, who is said to be nursing a governorship ambition in the 2023 election, imposed his supporters as ward executives in the state.
The ward congress saw to an attack on the APC state secretariat by aggrieved party members, who claimed the exercise never tok place in the state.
Some of the agitated members also set bonfires at the secretariat while party flags were also razed by angry APC youths.
But in a post on Facebook page on Friday afternoon, Udoedehe displayed pictures of youths who trooped out in solidarity over the ward congress.
He said : “Solidarity visit to the state chairman in support of the APC ward congress in Akwa Ibom.”
