The Police in Katsina has arrested suspected gun runner, Ibrahim Abdullahi, 40 years, who specializes in supplying guns to bandits camps in different part of the country, alongside three of his gang members.
The sum of three million and four hundred and forty-five thousand Naira and 1 AK47 rifle was also recovered from the gunrunning suspects.
Briefing newsmen on the recent achievements made by the Police Command in the ongoing onslaught against banditry and other crimes in Katsina state at the Police Command headquarters, police spokesman, Gambo Isah, said at the course of interrogation, the ring leader Ibrahim Abdullahi, confessed to be a gunrunner and that they have taken six (6) AK 47 rifles to one notorious bandits’ leader, Tukur Rabiu, alias “NASHARME” hibernating at Rijana Forest, along Kaduna – Abuja road and collected the said amount in return for the arms.
“Suspect also confessed to be gunrunning for one Abu Rade, a notorious bandit hibernating at Rugu/Dumburum forests of Katsina and Zamfara states respectively.
He further stated that, he is being paid the sum of N100,000 commission for each arm he supplied.
The Katsina PPRO added that, the Command succeeded in arresting one Surajo Dauda, ‘M’, aged 30yrs of Rijiyar Basai village, Danja LGA of Katsina state, suspected to have drugged and abducted, a housewife, one Jamila Auwal, aged 18yrs of Tandama village, Danja LGA of the state.
“In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to have abducted and locked up the victim for five months in a room. He further confessed to have raped the victim daily.”
