Crack detectives attached to Sapele Police Division in Delta State on Thursday arrested a local vigilante operative ( namewitheld) in the area for allegedly killing a 25 years old taylor identified as Moses Ishaku who hailed from one of the states in the north.
Recall that Moses Ishaku was allegedly murdered around Olympia street in Sapele town during nightfall of on Wednesday, a situation that had attracted the police attention following report from his relations.
Edafe Bright, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, who confirmed the incident, said that the victim had on the fateful day gone to see a friend along Abeke road in Sapele using one of his friends’ motorcycle when he ran into the vigilante men who had mounted a road block around Olympia street.
Bright further disclosed that the incident occurred at about 11pm on Wednesday, adding that while the victim was trying to flee, one of the vigilante officers hit him with wood, a situation he fell down and died on the spot.
But the suspect according to the police denied the act, adding that” the vigilante Officers were five in numbers and they quickly carried the corpse in a tricycle and drove off towards a new road area of the town where they thought nobody will know their atrocities”
Following the death of the victim, no fewer than 100 northerners were said to have taken to the streets in protest of the alleged killing of their brother and appealed to the police ensure that the Investigation into the alleged murder of the man was thorough
Meanwhile, Delta State Police Command says it has arressted four persons suspected to be Kidnappers at Obomkpa Community in Onicha north local government area of the state on Tuesday evening adding that the Suspects upon interrogation confessed to be members of a robbery gang that had been terriorizing the state over the years
DSP Edafe Bright, Police Public Relations Officer in the state who confirmed this to Journalists in Asaba said that the Suspects: Nelson Ezikiel 37 years, Good luck Williams 32 years old, James John 35 years and Faith Ejirokpor 41years old adding that” The police will charge them to court upon completion of investigation. We are still searching everywhere for others are at large in the community. We will do everything possible to arrest those at large’
