The Sector Four Joint Border Patrol Team of the Nigeria Customs Service has seized items valued at over N175 million.
The Coordinator of the Sector Four Joint Border Drill, Aliyu Muhammed, who made this known at a Press Briefing held in Katsina, said among the items seized include an ambulance used to smuggle foreign rice into the country.
He said the seizure was made from the 22nd of March to 7th of April this year.
The Coordinator of the North-West Joint Border Patrol Team of the Nigeria Customs Service, Muhammed said the team seized 40 different items from the 22nd of March to 7th of April, 2021.
The coordinator of the sector 4 joint border drill, who conducted the newsmen round the seized items, gave the breakdown of the items to include 323 bags of foreign rice of 50 kilograms each, 304 kegs of 25 litres of petrol and 130 kegs of diesel 25 liters each.
Others include 152 jerry cans of foreign vegetable oil of 25 liters each, 190 cartons of foreign spaghetti and 59 bales of used clothing, among others.
The sector 4 joint border drill coordinator also took the press men round seized takumbo vehicles, comprising a 406 Peugeot, 10-tyre double tipper truck, a daf head and one ambulance.
He told the newsmen that, the smuggled ambulance which used a fake federal government number plate, was found with several bags of foreign rice.
During the drill, the team also seized drugs which include 5 packets of tramadol, 2 packets of diazepam and one packet of hexol.
