The forum of Non -Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Delta State at the weekend sought investigation into the assassination attempt on the state former commissioner for Environment, Mr John Nani’s life.
Mr John Nani , currently Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission ( DESOPADEC) last Friday raised the alarm over an attempt to assassinate him by some unidentified persons in Sapele town, an alarm that had attracted calls for thorough investigation by various groups in the state, especially NGOs operating in the state.
The forum coordinator, Mr Okezi Odugala and its secretary, Chief Greg Osamenjor, who spoke to journalists described the attempt on the former Commissioner’s life unfortunate, and devastating, particularly when the suspected assassins allegedly rained bullets on him while he was driving on Sapele town road and called on security agencies to investigate the attempt well without leaving any stones unturned.

They said” The episode looks like a well orchestrated movie with intent at assassinating the politician cum public servant whose political and humanitarian services deviod of tribal religious and political sentiments which had been in him.
“As a forum, we call on the security agencies to strictly investigate this matter and bring the culprits to face the legal consequences without delay. We are interested in this matter and will follow it up to the letter to ensure that Justice is done. ”
While lamenting the death of the cop attached to the former Commissioner, the forum added that”, We thank God for sparing the life of Mr John Nani and we enjoin him to remain bold and resolute in contributing to the sustainable development of Delta state among others” and appealed to the state government to take seriously the issue of insecurity in the state.
