Former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has donated a number of food items to northerners displaced by Shasa crisis in Oyo State.
Muktar Umar Yarima, a former chairman of Tarauni Local Government in Kano State, led a delegation of Kwankwasiyya Movement to Oyo State on Friday to present the donation to leaders of Hausa community living in the state on behalf of the former senator.
The food items include 200 bags of rice, 200 cartons of bottled water, and 200 cartons of soft drinks.
Presenting the donation, Yarima said, “Our leader has learnt that these people displaced by the crisis are in hard times and they are in need of an urgent assistance.
“That is why our leader donated these food items to be distributed to them.”
Yarima, however, called on the leaders in the region to help the displaced persons, saying this is the best way to pacify the affected persons.
Shasha market is one of the destinations of farm produce from the north to Ibadan, that was recently engulfed in sectarian crisis.
Following the tension at Shasa, the Oyo State Government ordered the immediate closure of the market indefinitely but the crisis continued until security agencies brought the situation under control.
