A ghastly motor accident which occurred in the early hours of Friday around Ugwu Atakpo axis of Asaba- Ibusa road in Delta State reportedly claimed the lives of seven persons.
Eyewitness Felix Oghenero said that the accident which involved a commercial bus with registration number AA256 XX and a lorry, destroyed goods including household items while the dead victims were evacuated by policemen who were at the scene.
It was gathered that the bus was reportedly conveying traders and other passengers, some of who died in the road carnage while many others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre ( FMC) Asaba.
Sources said that the accident occurred when the bus conveying passengers towards Ogwashi Uku community allegedly collided with the lorry that was heading same direction.
Investigation revealed that the spot had been notorious in recent times for frequent accidents and in most cases number of people have been killed.
A Federal Road Safety Corps ( FRSC) official who was at the scene and spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that seven persons died in accident.
Police Public Relations department in the state, headed by ASP Edafe Bright, which also confirmed the incident, said that the tragedy was shocking especially when lives were lost.
