Four political parties deregistered by the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) in Delta State that recently sued Delta State Electoral Commission ( DSIEC) to stop the local government March 6, 2021 election, have withdrawn their suit for the interest of progress
Delta State Chairman, Inter Party Advisory Council ( IPAC), Mr Emeka Umerah Bidokwu who confirmed this to our correspondent said that suit instituted by Advance Congress of Democrats ( ACD ) and three others against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and another wherein they sought to stop the conduct of the March 6,2021 Delta State Local Government Council elections, had been withdrawn by the plaintiffs.
The plaintiffs having been deregistered by INEC were seeking to stop the conduct of the Delta State local government council elections slated for 6 March, 2021.
But IPAC Delta State Chapter insisted that the issues in the suit No FHC/ Asab / CS/ 4/ 2021 lodged at the Federal High Court Asaba were already issues for determination before the Supreme Court of Nigeria, saying that IPAC Delta State Chapter under his leadership, had extensive engagement with the plaintiffs thus making the withdrawal of the suit possible, adding that”By Monday which will be February 15,2021, We will be in court to witness the suit’s withdrawal.

“They are co- politicians and we are not having issues with them rather we are inclined towards their case against INEC and would be glad if they are brought back to the political fold. We are not against them but we don’t want anything that would truncate the course of democracy in Delta State. Subsequently, we called on them to a round table and juxtaposed the stopping of the forthcoming local government elections and allowed them to see that it was not in anybody’s favour and thank God they saw reasons with us.
“Indeed, the Delta State Electoral Commission DSIEC does not have the right to include or exclude them from election, but what DSIEC does is to ask to write to INEC to furnish them with the voters register and the parties entitled to take part in the election. ”
Bidokwu therefore charged candidates of various political parties to go and campaign and sell their manifestoes to the electorate, saying that” at the level of our Democracy, we should not be talking about party lines but what political parties and its candidates can offer to the people and if their manifeastoes are credible, people would believe in the candidates because it will no longer be business as usual. “
