The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says no fewer than 24 persons died in the country on Friday from coronavirus (COVID-19) complications.
NCDC, which disclosed this on its official Twitter handle late on Friday, said it also recorded 1,005 new cases of the dreaded COVID-19 while 854 persons who recovered from the virus were discharged.
“Our discharges today include 408 community recoveries in Lagos State and 99 community recoveries in Plateau State managed in line with guidelines,” it said.
The public health agency, said the latest figures have brought the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country since its outbreak to 144,521, discharge patients- 118,866 and the overall death toll – 1,734.
It said new cases of the virus were recorded in 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with Lagos topping the list with 204.
