Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, says the South-West regional security outfit, Amotekun corps, has been politicised.
Kanu said the outfit put in place to protect the Yoruba people from kidnappers and invasion of their land by armed herders has become a child’s play in the face of sophisticated weapons being wielded by Fulani herdsmen in its area of operation.
The separatist leader called for the return of the Odua People’s Congress (OPC), saying Amotekun may just become another toothless bulldog.

“Amotekun has been politicalised. What a shame! How can Amotekun with Pump Action/Dane Gun engage the 4th most dangerous terror group in the world that has sophisticated weapons like AK-47?” Kanu queried in a post on his Twitter’s handle on Friday.
“It’s time for an outfit with pedigree like Odua People’s Congress (OPC) to take over,” he added.

The Abia-State born Kanu, was reacting to a report credited to Governor Bala Muhammad of Bauchi State, which quoted him as saying that Fulani herdsmen would continue to bear AK47 rifles for self-defence.
PlatinumPost reports that Kanu had in December last year floated the Eastern Security Network (ESN) to protect the Igbo people of Southeast from regular attacks and kidnapping often blamed on Fulani herdsmen from Northern part of the country.
