
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command says it has arrested five members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shiites, over attempt to attack innocent residents with stones.
A statement made available to PlatinumPost on Wednesday in Abuja and signed by Police Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Mariam, said the Shiites also planned to destroy public property in the nation’s capital territory.
Yusuf, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), while assuring FCT residents of Police commitment to protect lives and property, said the suspects would soon appear in court.

The statement read : “The FCT Police Command on Tuesday, 9th February, 2021 arrested five (5) members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN)-Shiites who attempted to attack innocent citizens and destroy public property.
“The members of the disbanded sect were arrested in possession of large stones, which they intended to use to cause havoc. Consequently, the suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.
“While appealing to residents to remain calm and law-abiding, the Command wishes to reassure residents of its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property within the FCT.”
