
Men of Oyo state Police command have arrested eleven suspects in connection with the killing of three people in Igbo-Ora, a town in the state.
Commissioner of Police in the state, Ngozi Onadeko made this disclosure while addressing journalists on Wednesday.
Onadeko noted that the suspects were arrested in connection with the killing of Mrs. Sherifat Adisa, owner of a petroleum station in Idere Road in Igbo-Ora and two young children, Babatunde Omowumi and Toriola Kudirat.
It was learnt that the trio were killed by a kidnapping syndicate who stormed the petroleum station on January 2nd this year.
The suspects who invaded the petroleum station killed the trio of Adisa, Omowumi and Kudirat.
Onadeko who addressed journalists in Eleyele, Headquarters of the state Police command said that trio died as a result of the gunshots fired by the suspects.
She said that the suspects were arrested by the police who swung into action in order to arrest the killers of the deceases.
“On 2nd January 2021 at about 1955 hrs, some members of a notorious kidnaping syndicate who have been terrorizing members of the public in Ibarapa axis of Oyo state invaded Subawah filling station located along Idere Road Igbo-Ora with sophisticated firearms such as AK-47 rifles, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons.
“In the course of the attack, the kidnappers shot sporadically in different directions and in the process, two young girls who were later identified as Babatunde Omowumi and Toriola Kudirat were hit by the stray bullets and died on the spot.
“The armed bandits later abducted one Alhaja Sherifat Adisa who is the owner of the petroleum station and whisked her into the bush where they brutally murdered her after shooting at her severally on the stomach.
“The three deceased victims were later deposited at the morgue by Policemen operatives from Igbo-Ora division and upon the conclusion of their preliminary investigation, the case was transferred to the monitoring unit for more diligent investigation.
“No sooner was the case received than a team of crack police detectives swung into action and arrested nine suspects from their hideouts.
“On January 5th 2021, further investigation revealed that one of the prime suspects Jare Mohammad inserted his sim card number 07086824526 on the Nokia phone belonging to the deceased, Alhaja Sherifat Adisa which was carted away from her during the armed robbery operation that claimed her life.
“Suspects: Abubakar Idris, Shiabu Idi, Usman Saliu, Rabiu Usman, Umar Usman, Tiamiyu Isah, Rasak Ramon, Jare Mohammad, Umaru Amadu, Kabiru Adamu, Mohammad Abdullahi.”
