The federal government of Nigeria has announced the suspension of all meetings of the Governing Council of the University of Ibadan in Oyo state.
The announcement was made by the federal ministry of education in Abuja.
PLATINUM POST learnt that the Federal Ministry of Education approved the suspension of all meeting of the Governing Council of the University on Monday.
This was conveyed in a letter to the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission by the Permanent Secretary of the Education Ministry, Mr. Sonny Echono.
Our correspondent gathered that the selection process of the Vice Chancellor of the University was in November last year suspended.
The selection process was suspended due to series of the allegations levied against the then Vice Chancellor, Professor Idowu Olayinka, that Olayinka had planned to install his loyalist as the Vice Chancellor.
This development led to the appointment of an acting Vice Chancellor in November last year.
The acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Ekanola who was until his appointment, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic was appointment for a period of six months.
