Delta State government has taken steps to end illegal gas plants as it begins crackdown on those behind the illicit activities in the state
The State Commissioner for Environment Mr Chris Onogba who confirmed this to our correspondent said that the state government had also taken steps to probe the licenses of all gas plants and outlets in the state.
” We have a task force in place already to monitor the activities of those who operating in the oil and gas industry. We intend to ensure those on illegal activities are brought to arrest”. Onogba said.
The Commissioner said the task force members will ensure that all illegal activities and operators including quacks will not have a place again in the state.
He also said “efforts will be made to relocate the gas plants and shops from residential areas to safer locations and we will ensure that the gas plants are manned by only trained personnel as certificates will be awarded to all participants”
“We will continue to engage and sensitize the operators as well as the end-users on the safe use of domestic gas to prevent gas explosion or fire outbreak in our homes”
