  BREAKING Kano NLC others threaten to embark on strike over deductions in workers salaries

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress, (TUC) and Joint Negotiation Council (JNC) in Kano State have vowed to embark on strike should the state government continues to deduct workers salaries’ and retirees pensions .

The trade unions which made this known in a joint session on Friday, also threatened to institute legal action against Kano State government, if the money deducted from November and December 2020 salaries is not refunded.

Speaking at a joint news conference, Kano NLC Chairman, Kabiru Minjibir, regretted the unilateral decision of the government to reduce workers’ salaries despite the economic impact on poor masses.

He said the state government has no basis to reduce workers salaries when Lagos State that suffered more negative impact of COVID-19 pandemic pays its workers regularly without deduction.
