The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has called on the Federal Government to allow the various groups that formed Nigeria to go their separate ways in a peaceful manner.
IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, said a peaceful division of the country has become necessary as a result of lack of compatriot spirit among citizens of Nigeria.
In a tweet on Saturday morning, the separatist leader lamented that mutual hatred, bigotry and mutual suspicion have become an acceptable norms in the country.

“It’s the presence of a compatriot spirit amongst citizens that bounds a nation together. In Nigeria, there’s simply zero compatriot spirit but plenty of mutual hatred, suspicion & bigotry. The only panacea is for the founding nations to go their separate ways in peace,” Kanu said.

PlatinumPost recalls that Kanu had in a few weeks ago, said it is just a matter of time for Biafra to come into force as an independent country.
“#SelfDetermination does not require any legal justifications. It only requires the collective will of a people to be Independent.
Ancient Rome once ruled the entire planet but in time, self determination triumphed & hundreds of nations were borne. #Biafra shall emerge! Soon!” Kanu had posited.
PlatinumPost reports that IPOB, which is led by Kanu, is agitating for the secession from Nigeria of the Igbo people of South-East and part of South-South of the country.
The agitation for an independent state of Biafra being championed by IPOB, has become rife in recent time, decades after late Odumegwu Ojukwu first mobilised the nationalist aspirations of the ethnic group to break away, resulting in a 30-month civil war (1967-1970) that cost millions of lives.
The Federal Government proscribed IPOB in 2017 and accussed the group of engaging in violent and treasonous acts.
