Former presidential aide under Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, Pastor Reno Omokri, says President Muhammadu Buhari has destroyed the unity of the country by taking nepotism to the next level.
Omokri, who was the Special Assistant on New Media to former President Goodluck Jonathan from 2011 to 2015, stated this on his verified Twitter’s handle on Saturday morning.
He said the President’s passion for nepotism has seen Nigeria ‘nothernised’, adding that it is the greed for crude oil money in the Niger Delta region that is still holding the country together.
“General Buhari has destroyed the unity of Nigeria. Apart from greed for oil money from the Niger-Delta, there is now little or nothing holding this country together because of @MBuhari’s brazen nepotism, that has seen Nigeria so Northernised that he doesn’t even pretend anymore,” he said.
Omokri’s condemnation of Buhari’s nepotism comes on the heels of a statement credited to the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, Hassan Kukah, on Friday, which also lashed out on the President’s policies that always favour the northern part of the country against the general interest of Nigeria.
Kukah, in a Christmas message, said there could have been a coup if the president was a non-northern Muslim.
“Every honest Nigerian knows that there is no way any non-Northern Muslim President could have done a fraction of what President Buhari has done by his nepotism and gotten away with it.
“There would have been a military coup a long time ago or we would have been at war. The President may have concluded that Christians will do nothing and will live with these actions.
“He may be right and we Christians cannot feel sorry that we have no pool of violence to draw from or threaten our country. However, God does not sleep. We can see from the inexplicable dilemma of his North,” Kukah said.
