The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State on Tuesday vowed to do everything legally possible to remain in power in the state come 2023.
The party said it is ready to confront former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwakwanso and his Kwankwassiyya loyalists in the 2023 election, saying it will be ‘fire for fire’.
The party, which was apparently reacting to the recent comment credited to Kwankwaso that the 2023 election will be do or die affair, informed members to get ready for the battle ahead.
The Kano State APC chairman, Mr Abdullah Abbas, made this known while addressing party members at Government House, during the swearing in of the party caretaker officials for the 44 local government areas.
He reportedly told the APC members not to fail in defending the party from the loyalists of Kwankwaso in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
He reportedly told the APC officials that that the party will repeat its winning feat in the 2019 election in the next election, allegedly adding that the party will not allow a free and fair polls in 2023.
His words: “We will not allow the proper elections to hold but will repeat the same of 2019 inconclusive, we shall rig the election like Gama
“The era of free and fair elections is over in Kano. We will ensure the repeat of inconclusive in 2023. APC will remain in control from national to grassroots.
“I call on you not to be merciful to any Kwankwasiyya loyalist”
He also vowed to win the election by hook or crook.
While calling on APC supporters to engage opposition members in radio programmes, the party chairman advised Governor Abdullahi Ganduje not to allow drug addicts in his cabinet.
