Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State says the government has begun negotiations with individuals responsible for the abduction of over 300 students from Government Science Secondary School, Kankara.
Masari, who disclosed on Monday in Daura, when he visited President Muhammadu Buhari to brief him on the recent developments on the kidnap incident, said the kidnappers made contact and discussions were already on pertaining to safety and return to their homes.
A statement made available to PlatinumPost on Monday and signed by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, said the governor assured of steady progress to bring the children out unharmed.
“We are making progress and the outlook is positive,’’ the governor, who was accompanied by his deputy, Manir Yakubu, said.
Masari also noted that security agencies had located the position of the children, adding that the President was fully committed to the rescue of the school children.
