
President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the interim management committee of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Mr Effiong Akwa has been announced as the interim administrator of the Commission.
Akwa is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
The media aide to the President, Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a tweet on Saturday evening.

Adesina said the development became necessary as a result of plethora of litigation and a restraining order issued recently against the Interim Management Committee of the NDDC by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
“President Buhari approves interim administrator for the NDDC. He is Mr Effiong Okon Akwa, the Ag. Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the Commission, who is to assume headship till completion of the forensic audit.”

The dissolved interim committee, which had been characterised by one corruption allegation to the other, was inaugurated in February 2020 by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio.
The Interim Management Committee was made up of Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei, Acting Managing Director ; Ibanga Bassey Etang, Acting Executive Director (Finance and Administration); Cairo Ojougboh, Acting Executive Director (Projects); Caroline Nagbo (member) and Cecilia Bukola Akintomide (member).
