The Chairman, Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission (PCACC), Barr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado has said that the agency is performing better than some federal anti-graft bodies.
Rimingado stated this at 2020 International Anti-corruption Day, Public Presentation of Anti-corruption Strategy and Official Commissioning of Kano Anti-corruption Institute, held at the institute on Wednesday.
He said the state government have not been interfering in the activities of the anti-corruption agency, which according to him, is the reason behind the huge successes it had recorded so far, this making it a bit ahead of some federal anti-graft bodies.
“Let me not be over ambitious but to be honest, i can beat my chest to say that PCACC is performing ahead of some federal anti-graft agencies.
” This is because, the state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has not been interfering in the activities and affairs of this agency. This non-inteference is the key behind our successes,” Rimingado said.
According to him, Kano is the only state in Nigeria that has put in place, robust mechanism to fight corruption in the country, adding that the state government had made anti-corruption law to complement the President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade.
He also disclosed that the commission would soon launch anti-corruption strategy to give way for Open Government Partnership (OGP), aimed at strengthening transparency in governance.
“To further strengthen our anti-corruption fight, we have set up anti-corruption unites in all the 44 Local Government areas of this state.
” We have indeed recorded a lot of successes, courtesy of freedom given to us by governor Ganduje to operate freely without interference,” he emphasized.
In his remarks, the state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, said his administration would not rest of its ores in the fight against “the cancer militating the progress of Nigeria.”
Ganduje, represented by his deputy, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, said his administration has provided robust strategies to help the fight against corruption.
He restarted the commitment of his administration to support PCACC in a bid to fight corruption in all ramifications.
