The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has expressed the belief that Nigeria will break into several parts in no distant time.
Leader of separatist group, Nnamdi Kanu, who stated this in a post on his Twitter’s handle on Friday, likened current developments in Nigeria to what happened in the Soviet Union that led to its breakup into several countries.
He said: “For decades, Soviet nationalities called for decentralization (a sort of RESTRUCTURING) but the Soviet cabal responded with oppression. In the fullness of time, the restructuring Gorbachev started was no longer acceptable & the USSR imploded. Nigeria is already on the same path.”

PlatinumPost reports that IPOB, which is led by Kanu, is agitating for the secession of the Igbo from Nigeria, decades after late Odumegwu Ojukwu first mobilised the nationalist aspirations of the ethnic group to break away, resulting in a 30-month civil war (1967-1970) that cost millions of lives.
The Federal Government proscribed IPOB in 2017 and accussed the group of engaging violent and treasonous acts.
