
The Hisbah security corps in Kano State has warned Cool Fm to desist from tagging the Islamic holy day of Friday as ‘Black Friday’.
A letter to the radio station signed by Abubakar Ali on behalf of the Commander General of the Hisbah corps, said majority of Kano residents are Muslims, hence, would not tolerate demonising the holy day.
“I am directed to write and notify you that the office in in receipt of complaint for the conduct of Black Friday Sales on 27th November, 2020.
“Accordingly, we wish to express our concern on the tagging of the Friday as “Black Friday” and further inform you that the majority of the inhabitants of Kano state are Muslims that consider Friday as Holy Day.
“In view if the foregoing you are requested to stop calling the day as Black Friday with immediate effect and note that Hisbah corps will be around for surveillance purposes with a view to avoiding occurence of any immoral activities as well as maintaining peace, harmony and stability in the state, ” the letter of which a copy was obtained by PlatinumPost read.
PlatinumPost reports that Black Friday is a special period for Christmas shopping season, on which sellers give out their products with discount in prices.
